Welcome

I see you have come across my little corner of the net called Echo Park!
This is the place you will most likely find me if I'm not anywhere else! This is a personal blog with a side order of photography, tutorials and stories.
The site looks best in FireFox. And thanks to Tranquilium Hosting for hosting me.
Enjoy your stay! =)

    Your Live In 3, 2, 1… · January 29, 2010

Today my schools Jazz Band, which I play my flute in, was live on the county radio. It was really nerve racking because we’ve never been on the radio before, but we only had to play 1 minute of one song.
We played the new song which we’ve been practising called Cantaloupe Island.

We were on the radio to try and promote some of our concerts which are to raise money for our tour to Beijing in August!

We all set up, and tuned our instruments and then the woman walked in with one microphone! It was quite funny, but it made us sound flat. =( My Dad recorded it for my Mum and my Grandparents. Apparently the whole school was listening to it so when we went back to lessons everyone was like, “was that live?” “Your really good!” And stuff like that! It made me feel proud and reminded me why I play my flute in groups and concerts and stuff! =D
I still can’t get over the fact that I’m going to China and playing flute and we were just live on the radio.

We were supposed to play 1 minute of the song like I said but the presenter didn’t want us to stop so we played the whole 5 minute song! The presenter then couldn’t stop talking about how good we were afterwards which was funny. Plus people were still phoning in about our performance 10 minutes afterwards!

It was an amazing opportunity and that’s one more thing I can cross off my list of things I want to achieve!

Have you ever been on the radio? And what do you want to achieve in your life?

Computers To Take Over The World?! · January 21, 2010

My school is one of those technology and arts schools. So you would expect computers that turn on and are connected to the network and what have you. Yet somehow our techno-savvy (is that even a word?) school cannot do that.

I sat down in the design computer room and pressed the power button. Nothing. I pressed it again. Still nothing. So I move to another computer. Press the power button and the computer starts to wirr. I sit back and wait for it to load.

5 minutes later and the computer screen is still blank. Silly me, I hadn’t turned the screen on. Nope it wasn’t even connected to the computer! The screen lights up with the log on screen and I type in my username and password. I sat there for 15 minutes wondering why it wasn’t letting me log on, thinking I hadn’t got my username or password right. It wasn’t even connected to the school network!

So I moved to another computer and spent what was rest of the lesson which was now 20 minutes waiting for the seriously slow computer to turn on, log me on and open photoshop. Wait no, it can’t do that. It doesn’t have any software on!

It’s not like there were any signs to say the computers weren’t working. They are slower than a snail and have the oldest software known to man on there!
I cannot see computers taking over the world in the future. As least not the ones at our school! Half the staff can’t even work them! Ok not half the staff, but still! I had to tell one of the IT technicians how to fix one of the computers the other day!

Phew! Rant over. I just basically sat in the computer room for the whole lesson doing nothing!
As you can see I have the new layout which I have been working on! I’m not sure how I feel about it. What do you think?
